Today, a focus on three very nice Sportsmatic 5 Deluxe, one from 1965, the other ones from 1966. These Deluxe are quite underrated according to me. They are assimilated to the Seiko 5 range and hence considered as cheap. But in the contrary, they are very well built with a stainless steel case, nice hour markers, a day and date display, etc. Look how they look and run, almost 60 years after their conception ? How many european brands could claim as many qualities and features in 1965 ? I mean, cheap ones 😉
Seiko 5 Sportsmatic Deluxe 7606-7980, 1965
A transition model, equipped with the older 7606 calibre, with a quite minimalist dial. The steel bracelet is signed “Seiko” but is not original to the model (at least, not as far as I know). It suits well the watch and is probably from the same period.

Seiko 5 Sportsmatic Deluxe 7619-9030, 1966
A later model, very classy 9030 case. Champagne dial with some light patina. Look at these hour markers, just gorgeous.

Seiko 5 Sportsmatic Deluxe 7619-9010, 1966
Quite similar to the 7619-9030, this 7619-9010 is in very fresh condition. I especially like the champagne/beige dial, it looks very smart.
