Description
This is a nice example of the Seiko design and technical savoir-faire : an automatic chronograph in a very nice designed case, with a gorgeous dial. It was released in May 1972 according to its serial number and was marketed for the japanese domestic market (JDM)
The watch is in its original condition including the glass domed crystal.
Gorgeous black dial in very good condition, batons hands, yellow second and minute totalizer hand. Golden minute sub dial. Day (in english and kanji) and date at 3, with quickset on both.
The movement is a Seiko 21-jewel automatic 6139. It has just been serviced (wheel train and chronograph clutch relubed, day wheel offset fixed), it works fine (+/- 20 s/d), the balance having a good amplitude. The chrono starts and stops, the reset comes perfectly back to its original position when pressing the lower pusher. The day and date quickset works.
The overall condition is good, the big pillow case has however some minor wear and the dial is in excellent condition. The original crystal has some marks and a small chip above the minute sub dial.
Finally, the watch comes with a new thick leather band. Definetely a impressive watch, in good condition and fully working.
Vintage watch with unknown history but serviced, checked and cleaned (11/2020). Water resistance non tested (so no dipping or shower with this watch).
