Description
Unusual Seiko 5 Sportsmatic in good overall condition. It was released in Ferbuary 1965 according to its serial number. These vintage Seiko Sportsmatic are a must have imo, they look modern and are reliable, so they are perfectly suited for an every day use.
This watch is in its original condition, nice almost flawless dial, dauphine hands and steel indexes on an inner bezel. Day (in english) and date at 3 (without quickset). The case of this early Sportsmatic is quite unusual, and is made of chromed brass, it is in good condition but with some loss of chrome and pitting (see pictures).
The movement is a Seikosha 410 21-jewel automatic (which will later become the Seiko 6619). It works fine, holds very good time and is according to my experience one of the most reliable mid-range automatic movements ever made by Seiko. The watch has been serviced in March, 2021.
We can see that this watch is from the transition period, when Seiko renamed their movements. The case shows a 6619 calibre but it’s still a Seikosha 410 inside (which is the same movement, except for the lack of date quickset).
The crystal is new, as is the leather rallye bracelet.
Vintage watch with unknown history but checked and cleaned. Water resistance non tested.
The pictures are actual and are part of the description, so please look carefully at them.
