Alla fine degli anni Novanta, Seiko offriva solo un assortimento limitato di orologi meccanici. Oltre alla serie Seiko 5 basata sul movimento 7S26, il catalogo comprendeva solo pochi modelli basati sui calibri 6810 e 4Sxx, tra cui l'ambitissimo Alpinist 4S15, alcuni orologi eleganti dotati del calibro 4S24\/4S25 e la serie "S" che includeva il GMT 4S12 e il pi\u00f9 semplice modello militare 4S15 (SCFF001 e SCFF003). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In questo articolo ci concentreremo sul modello SCFF005 GMT e sulle sue varianti rossa (SCFF007) e blu (SCFF009).

Presentazione<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Il design dell'SCFF si allinea alla produzione Seiko della fine degli anni '90. L'orologio appare piuttosto compatto e spesso, ma non eccessivamente grande: la cassa ha un diametro inferiore a 40 mm. L'altezza della cassa conferisce profondit\u00e0 al quadrante. Le due lancette principali sono molto leggibili, quella GMT \u00e8 molto pi\u00f9 discreta e potrebbe persino passare inosservata. Entrambe le corone si trovano sul lato destro. La cassa \u00e8 priva di anse e il bracciale \u00e8 completamente integrato, una soluzione piuttosto comune all'epoca.

Il quadrante e le lancette<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Il quadrante nero presenta quattro indici metallici, posizionati alle ore 12, 3, 6 e 9. Ciascuno di essi \u00e8 circondato da un rettangolo luminescente sul lato esterno. Le scritte sono sobrie: il logo Seiko \u00e8 stampato sotto l'indicatore delle ore 12, seguito dalla dicitura "Automatic". Nella parte inferiore del quadrante \u00e8 stampata una "S" rossa. Infine, come di consueto, sul bordo inferiore, sono riportati i riferimenti del movimento e del quadrante (8010).
Ogni minuto \u00e8 stampato su una parte piuttosto ampia del bordo del quadrante.
La lancetta delle ore \u00e8 un rettangolo bianco riempito di materiale luminescente, quella dei minuti \u00e8 una matita, anch'essa riempita di materiale luminescente. La lancetta GMT \u00e8 argentata, traforata e solo la punta \u00e8 luminescente. La lancetta dei secondi \u00e8 bianca.
La finestrella della data si trova alle ore 4.
La ghiera girevole interna che circonda il quadrante \u00e8 decorata con i 24 indici che rappresentano il giorno. Le ore pari sono indicate da numeri, quelle dispari da piccoli rettangoli. Per utilizzare la funzione GMT, \u00e8 necessario sincronizzare la lancetta GMT con l'indicazione del fuso orario. Purtroppo, la ghiera GMT non \u00e8 bloccabile e l'impostazione potrebbe non rimanere fissa se si tocca la corona di regolazione. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

La cassa e il bracciale<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Con meno di 40 mm, la cassa potrebbe sembrare piccola in teoria, ma con l'aggiunta delle due grandi corone, del bracciale integrato e dei suoi 14 mm di spessore, l'SCFF005 appare piuttosto grande al polso. Le superfici superiori sono spazzolate orizzontalmente, mentre entrambi i lati della cassa sono lucidati. Anche la lunetta \u00e8 lucida. Il fondello a vite \u00e8 trasparente e sul vetro \u00e8 stampata una mappa del mondo argentata.
Il cristallo \u00e8 realizzato in spesso vetro Hardlex ed \u00e8 leggermente bombato.
Il bracciale presenta maglie sottili, che ricordano alcuni bracciali degli anni Settanta, visibili in particolare su alcuni modelli LM e LM Special. La chiusura deployante \u00e8 protetta da un fermo di sicurezza con il logo Seiko.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Il movimento<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Il movimento Seiko 4S12 deriva dal calibro 52xx introdotto nei primi anni '70 con i modelli Seiko LM Special e KS Special. Si tratta di un calibro piuttosto sofisticato, con 25 rubini e una frequenza di 28.000 alternanze\/ora. \u00c8 a carica manuale e dispone della funzione di fermo secondi. La lancetta GMT \u00e8 semplicemente accoppiata alla lancetta principale delle ore, ma compie una rotazione completa in 24 ore tramite una ruota intermedia. Ci\u00f2 significa che la lancetta GMT non pu\u00f2 essere regolata individualmente come avviene in un vero movimento GMT. Di conseguenza, \u00e8 necessario leggere il doppio fuso orario sulla lunetta girevole interna, che deve essere correttamente impostata per corrispondere al fuso orario desiderato.
Questa famiglia di movimenti \u00e8 molto affidabile.

Insomma<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Questo Seiko S GMT \u00e8 molto attraente. La versione nera \u00e8 piuttosto sobria, mentre quelle blu e rosse sono pi\u00f9 vivaci e accattivanti. Trasmette una sensazione di robustezza. Il movimento 4S12, a mio parere, \u00e8 uno dei migliori movimenti di fascia medio-alta prodotti da Seiko e dovrebbe essere un motivo valido per acquistarlo. Oggi, questo SCFF potrebbe rivelarsi un ottimo investimento.
