seiko 5 sports
The Seiko 5 Sports range was introduced in 1968, replacing the Sportsmatic range.
These watches had a completely different design, definitely more sporty with big cases, often black (or coloured) dials, sometimes with an inner or outer rotating bezel. The range was discontinued in the late 70’s (1977 ?) and then relaunched in the late 90’s. Today, the range is still sold.
The very first “Sports” were fitted with the 5126 and 6119 movements, then from 1969 on, the 6106 and 7019 replaced them. Shortly later Seiko marketed chronographs under the “5 Sports” flag. These “Speed-timers” had 6138, 6139, 7015, 7016, 7017 and 7018 movements.
