Orient is often considered as a simple sub-Seiko brand (which is actually the case), but in the past, in particular in the 60’s, their production had a “je-ne-sais-quoi” that made their watches quite unique. The design was very attractive and they did their own movements. I really love some of their early models : Royal Orient, Olympia Orient, Kind Diver. Some of their diver’s are just incredible, unfortunately it is quite impossible to find a nice one for a reasonable price.
From the 70’s on, things changed and their watches became then quite flashy and kitsch…
I listed this week-end two Orient AAA Swimmers, from the same period I think. Both are lovely, with a fluted bezel (that was quite common for Orient) and run well.
